Holiday Season

December 25, 2010
It has been a very busy few weeks here at the shop.  In addition to our usual work, refinishing a coffee table and building a candle lighting table we have been moving into a larger shop.  I will be posting pictures of the new shop as we get in into presentable shape.  In the meantime here are some pictures of the candle table in it's assembly stages and in its final form.  More information can be found on the Occasional table page in the web site.

And as it looked in use

And just in case your curiosity is up here is one quick one of the shop

Until next time we wish you all a Joyous Holiday Season and a wonderful and prosperous New Year !!!

Christmas Gift

November 12, 2010
I have completed the Buddha Band-saw Box Christmas gift.  This type of box is always a fun challenge to build.  It has three drawers and is made of black walnut with a lacquer finish.  Careful cutting and sanding result in a box that people wonder how you got the drawers in there.

This box measures 9 1/2 inches tall,6 inches wide and 2 1/2 inches deep.  it sits on a base that is 7 1/2 inches wide by 6 inches deep.  The edges of the base are rounded down to give a pillow effect. The face and Lo...

Tripod Boat Table

October 31, 2010
Completed a table that I have been working on this week. It is a tripod boat table made of Alder, Black and English Walnut.  More details are on the web page.

We are getting the shop ready for the move to our new location.  Lots of work to do for that.  I will post pictures of the new shop as soon as we get moved in.

Black Lacquer

October 6, 2010
Finally completed the black lacquer table and chair set.  This was quite a project as the wood was old,dry and in very bad shape.  Here are some pictures of the finished product and one of the chairs after some sanding .

This is one of the chairs - on the left that was in better shape

The table base was interesting and the two end leaves lifted out.

The table with front and back views of the chairs.

I am glad that this project is finally finished. Now I can get back to the steel covers that did n...

Interesting week here at the shop

October 2, 2010
This has been an interesting week here at the shop.  I am working on a project from dimensions provided from across the country by a steel manufacturer.  Turns out he did not build his product to the dimensions he gave me so of course it doesn't fit.  Stay tuned for what happens next.

Then I am also working on a Black Lacquer job on an old and very rough table. LOTS of sanding and smoothing, but it is finally coming out good.  Pictures will follow in a later post.

On Top of all of this we are...

Spin the drum and other ramblings

September 21, 2010
It has been a bit since my last post as I have been looking for more shop space, actually a new shop and home.  I finally found it and am making arrangements for the purchase and the move.  I will keep you informed on the progress. But more fun was the latest project.  A very large ticked barrel was commissioned by a casino.
Here is the finished barrel.  They are expecting a LOT of tickets.

It was a lot of fun for two of us to get the drum in the truck to take it down to the casino.  This on...

We all scream for Ice Cream

July 20, 2010

It has been a bit hectic this week with non-shop activities but I did manage to get more done on the ice cream station.  The edges of the angled melamine sheet did not come out the way I had hoped - see previous posts - so I topped the unit with a sheet of Formica.  The cuts to get the bend were fun, if you have a warped sense of humor, but the final result looks much better.  I am going to put doors on today.

Interesting Legs

July 11, 2010
I finished the couch legs this week, as you can see the angles are interesting.. These were some fun to cut.

Now I can start on the other projects just as soon as my mouth heals up a bit from oral surgery and I am off the medications.

Busy week in the shop.

July 3, 2010
It has been a busy week in the shop, I forgot to take pictures of some of the progress but I did manage to get some taken.

The Ice Cream Serving Station is coming along nicely.

the holes in the slanted top and the front will hold stainless serving canisters for the condiments.

To ensure that spilled liquids will not destroy the mdf under the melamine I sealed the edges with epoxy

The area here to the left of the slanted portion will hold the cone dispenser and the cups for soft serve.  I had to m...
